A Brief Introduction to the New Testament

Retaining the approach of the longer textbook while condensing and simplifying much of its material, this volume looks at the New Testament from a consistently historical and comparative perspective and emphasizes the rich diversity of the earliest Christian literature(He unfortunately turns to divisive shock-value in introducing certain historic figures such as Apollonius and is eager to highlight minor facts that seem to be superficially scandalous.) The chapter on Greco-Roman polytheism, however, was grossly simplified and oddly idealized--Ehrman painted this religious culture as an easy and fluid equal-opportunity environment for all deities and his laudations leave you wondering if he does not yearn for the "good old days" of polytheismEhrmanEditionillustratedPublisherOxford University Press, 2004ISBN0195161238, 9780195161236Length380 pagesSubjectsReligion:Biblical Criticism & Interpretation:New TestamentReligion / Biblical Criticism & Interpretation / New TestamentReligion / Biblical Studies / New Testament  Export CitationBiBTeXEndNoteRefManSarah rated it really liked it Jul 08, 2016 There isn't a finer or more readable introduction in the English language."--Michael Thompson, University of Oklahoma Table of Contents Ninian Smart, The Nature of Religion*=New to this Edition Maps, Time Lines, and DiagramsBoxesPrefaceAcknowledgmentsNotes on Suggestions for Further ReadingCreditsMaster Time LineIntroduction* 1You definitely have to ignore his "voice" and toneEhrman Publication Date - June 2016 ISBN: 9780190276393 432 pages Paperback 7-1/2 x 9-1/4 inches In Stock Retail Price to Students: .95 Affordable, accessible, and engaging: the concise version of the best-selling text in the field Description New to this Edition Book Information Table of Contents Description Featuring vibrant full color throughout, A Brief Introduction to the New Testament, Fourth Edition, is a concise version of Bart D
